Athletics
overview
Athletics are a fundamental part of the overall educational experience at Castilleja. The athletic program strives to teach students physical and mental skills, self-discipline, and sportsmanship, while motivating athletes to strive for excellence. The value of participation in sports is broad and life-long, developing teamwork, organizational and leadership skills. Castilleja athletes are a source of pride and unity to the school community.
The Athletic Department at Castilleja School offers eleven varsity sports in the Upper School and eight sports in the Middle School. Upper School sports include Basketball, Cross Country, Golf, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Track and Field, Tennis, Volleyball, and Water Polo. Middle School sports include Basketball, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Tennis, Track, and Volleyball and Water Polo.
At the middle school level, the athletic program is designed to give access to all interested students through a no-cut policy. Athletics in the upper school are competitive and the level of commitment increases accordingly.
