General Naming Opportunities
Endowment A named endowment offers a unique opportunity to our benefactors to assist Castilleja School in fulfilling the mission of providing a distinct educational environment. Today, with escalating costs, it is increasingly important for Castilleja to establish a comprehensive endowment program that will allow us to offer competitive faculty and staff compensation, provide for continuing program development, and fund tuition assistance for qualified girls regardless of their ability to afford tuition. Benefactors of our school community may establish, in perpetuity, a named endowment in their own name, a family name, or in memory of a loved one.
A fund may be established with a minimum initial gift of $50,000 based on a donor agreement to provide gifts that will eventually build to a minimum of $250,000 principal level over a period not to exceed five years. Earned interest will not be awarded while the fund is growing to the $250,000 level. All accrued interest will be directed to assist in building the principal. Contributions to the fund are the primary responsibility of the donor. If a donor is unable to achieve the minimum named endowment amount within five years, the fund shall be merged into the Castilleja School General Endowment. Distributions will be made in accordance with established school policies governing the General Endowment.
The fund’s principal is established and will not be invaded. Funds will be professionally invested and each year approximately 5% of the market value will be awarded based on the criteria established at the inception of the fund, subject to the approval of the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees.
