History
Overview
The History Department believes that a knowledge of the past provides a sophisticated lens through which to understand the present and to view the future. It seeks to inspire in Castilleja students a love of learning in general and of history in particular. The history curriculum supports and enhances Castilleja’s focus on global learning. While students master the “canon” in the fields of world and American history, they practice and hone their skills in thinking, reading, writing, and speaking. They learn to gather and analyze information from traditional and electronic sources. Thus, they graduate well-versed in historical knowledge, comfortable with both print and electronic research, and competent in their critical skills.
