Students Take Center Stage
Outside of the classroom, there are numerous opportunities for students to take center stage - from performing at the Middle School Talent Show or choreographing a piece for Arts with a Heart, to singing a solo in the Upper School Musical or directing a production of a classic play. Students at all levels have the opportunity to participate and experience the accomplishment of performing.
Our annual performing arts calendar includes the Middle and Upper School Musicals, one or more Upper School Plays, and Arts with a Heart, as well as vocal and instrumental music concerts in the Winter and Spring. Students also have performance opportunities during Alumnae Weekend and Grandparents and Special Friends Day, and often organize special events to benefit our community partners, such as the Mountain View Day Workers Center.
Students who have taken the Theater elective or have participated in Upper School Productions may join the Theater Advisory Board (TAB). Started in 2012, TAB gives students the opportunity to take a leadership role in the performing arts. Presented with options for plays and musicals, TAB members meet to consider the titles, read the scripts, listen to the music, and help select which shows will be produced in the upcoming season. TAB members also serve as theater ambassadors on campus, communicating information about auditions, ticket sales, field trips, and other special events.
