The Casti volleyball program had anything but an ordinary season this school year. The program started practicing in August but didn’t compete for the first time until the end of March. Even though JV and Varsity Volleyball only had 13 combined games, they certainly made the most of their short competition season.
Both squads had exciting performances toward the end of their seasons. The JV team had a great win over Priory in their second-to-last game of the season. Coach Cortella and Coach Teichmann were thrilled with the team’s performance! Your Gators only gave up nine points in their second set – Way to go!
The varsity team also finished the season with excitement. In their very last game on Friday they got down two sets to none against Mercy Burlingame only to storm back and win the next three sets in dominant fashion! Coach Jac said it was senior leadership from Samina, Catherine, Honor, and Alexa on the court and from Ariana cheering on the sidelines that that made the difference in their last game at Casti. She knew the seniors would play their hardest in this final game, and that’s exactly what they did, leading the Gators to their incredible comeback. The varsity team finished with an awesome record of 5-2.
This team won’t have to wait too long until their next season, which should hopefully look more typical this fall. We cannot wait to see them competing again soon!
