The varsity softball team had the great pleasure of honoring two extraordinary senior student-athletes at their senior night event on Tuesday, May 8th. To begin the evening, Castilleja coaches said a few words about the seniors, photos were taken, and the first pitch was thrown out by Mr. Smoot. The contest to follow was a tough game against Mercy Burlingame, where your Gators fought to the very end. Plenty of people came out to support, and there was even a Casti employee run BBQ for all the fans!
Jordan Yau, a four-year varsity softball member, played first base for our final high school softball games, and Jashee Yang, a two-year varsity softball member, played outfield. Both big hitters for the Gators, the seniors shined like they always do in their final home game.
The Gators fought all season long with a small but mighty squad and finished with two home games and one postponed away game, officially finishing their season on Wednesday, May 9th. Head coach Joke van der Hulst said of the team, “When we started out at the end of January, we almost did not have a team. The progress and fight these players have shown is really something to celebrate!” And we couldn’t agree more!
